Kranenburg School, Musina/Southafrica
At the Kranenburg school in Musina at the border to Simbabwe circa 80-100 pupils aged 7 to 15 are learning under bad conditions. The coordination of assistance takes place through a German farmer couple on the spot which already helped in the past.
As a result of a change in governmental power in 2000 the situation declined because the payment of the 3 teachers and the headmaster is unsteady and means for financing school materials are missing.

Through private initiatives it was already possible to redecorate the school building and construct sanitary equipment as well as a bus bar and water supply.
The need for money isn’t very big because the most important aid measures have already been done.
The assistance of Smiling Children adds up basically to the purchase of school materials such as books, photocopier, etc. Also the construction of a kitchen or a cooking place should be listed on the project list as there is no possibility to cook so far.
The intention of Smiling Children’s support should be an accompanying help for the school. The focus of the follow-up professional training should be relating to a trade because that’s what they need most in the agrarian district.
The support should take place on a long-term from school to training and should above all be help for self-help. The support of children should only take place in line with the existent system because the German system is very difficult to realize in Africa.
